Dan Thrift is a 19 year resident of South Lake Tahoe, coming to the South Shore to work at a local newspaper as a photographer where he discovered his passion to capture the extraordinary beauty of the Lake Tahoe region.

Well known for his many award winning years with the Tahoe Tribune, Dan is a highly committed and professional photographer with more than 19 years of experience in his field. His talent as a photojournalist has given him the talent and ability to do more than just take stunning photographs. As a wedding photographer, Dan uses his photojournalist skills to put together a story of the client’s wedding. His expertise as a photojournalist is what sets Dan ahead of the rest. He takes a situation and makes it special. He adds life to life’s events. He gives personality and emotion to each shot and he captures the moment and gives it feeling. His passion for people and photography makes him sensitive to the natural beauty that is all around, capturing that in every picture.

Heavily involved in the disc golf community here, Dan has helped develop, install and maintain several courses in the area including Bijou Community Park, Zephyr Cove Park and at Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Thrift is also a volunteer with Special Olympics Team Tahoe as swim coach and an assistant coach for the softball team.  He lives with his fiancée Rebecca and her son Zeb and their basenji/border collie mix Felony.
